Dynamic Wages: Using an Amount from a Data Field

This article explains how a numeric value stored in a data field can automatically be used as the rate of a wage type.

Suitable Use Cases

This function can be used, for example, for:

an individual hourly wage per employee
a client-specific hourly wage
a project-specific supplement
individual expenses or allowances

Requirements

The following requirements must be met:

The Dynamic Wages add-on is activated.
A suitable data field has been created.
The data field contains a valid numeric value.
The corresponding wage type has been configured to use the data field.

Configuration

1. Create and/or Complete the Data Field

To use a rate from a data field, you must first create a data field of the type “Currency” in the relevant form.

The data field can be added, for example, to one of the following forms:

employee form
project form
client form

Once the data field has been added to the relevant form, you can enter the rate that should later be used by the dynamic wage type.

Important: Use a full stop as the decimal separator when entering decimal amounts.
For example, enter 6.50 for an amount of EUR 6 and 50 cents.

2. Create or Edit the Wage Type

Navigate to:

Configuration → Wages → Wage Types

Click an existing wage type to edit it or select “Create Wage Type” to create a new one.

Then open the section “Payment options”.

In the dropdown menu for "dynamic attribute value", select the data field from which the rate should be taken:

In this example, the value is taken from the “Hourly Wage” field in the employee form.

If a rate has been entered in this field, it will be used instead of the default value defined in the wage type. If the field is empty, the default value of the wage type continues to apply.
